Location
Pheasant Field is located near Carlisle PA, a busy travel route and considered an excellent stopping point for rest and accommodations. The B&B is also popular for this type of travel as it accommodates both pets and horses. Carlisle is also home to 3 colleges and a popular destination for car shows and auctions as it attracts guests for all over the world for these events.
Pheasant Field is also located within a 1/2 mile of the famous Appalachian Trail for easy overnight stays. And the area has world class fly fishing on the Yellow Breaches Creek and LeTort Spring as well as kayaking.
Gettysburg, Hershey Park and Amish Country of Lancaster County are all within a short drive from the Inn.
And the rural farm style stay with large acreage provides the perfect setting for events, using both the pond front setting and the paved tented area for great celebrations!
Owner's Quarters
The owners quarters are situated on the 3rd floor of the Farmhouse, with a private office in a separate location of the building. The 10 plus acres could also provide room to grow for a larger innkeeping family.
Property Details
The B&B sits on 8.21 acres that includes the main farmhouse that consists of 7 guest rooms and the owners quarters, and a separate totally updated Cottage for overnight guests. There is a working stone barn with 10 horse stalls and 2 paddocks, a tack room, workshop, garage, hay storage, equipment storage, trailer parking, and a chicken coop nearby. A blacktopped area (formally a tennis court) is tented for events and there is a fenced pasture area for horses. The Inn also owns 2.32 acres of land directly across the street that serves as part of the event and parking areas. This property sits on the pond and has a labyrinth and is quite attractive, adding to the ambience of the property.
Also included on the property is a solar panel system for hot water, a generator for 80% of power backup.
Special Details
In the past two centuries, this property served as a family farm, a dairy farm, a horse breeding facility and a bed and breakfast. It is also said to have sheltered runaway slaves as a stop on the Underground railroad and has the remains of this still on the property today.
