The Atlantic Inn was originally established in 1928 as the Atlantic View Hotel, when it was the first inn to be built on Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Earning a well-deserved position on the National Register of Historic Places, the inn had provided lodgings for fishing tourists, duck hunters and seekers of a peaceful getaway until 2003, when Hurricane Isabel devastated Hatteras. In 2006, the inn was raised up and re-opened as “The Seaside Inn” operating under several managers until the end of 2019. In 2020, the current owners bought the rather run-down century-old hotel and spent the next year completely renovating and restoring it, before re-opening in April 2021 as “The Atlantic Inn”.
There are no corporate hotel vibes here – this inn has been lovingly rebuilt to reflect the original character and intent of an historic seaside Inn, within an easy stroll of the Atlantic Ocean.
